Title: Foreskin of the Flesh and of the Heart, Circumcision: Why?

Introduction
The study of circumcision in the Bible goes beyond a simple physical sign. It represents a profound spiritual lesson that reveals the inner transformation expected of every believer.

When God placed man in the Garden of Eden He told Adam he could eat from every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because the day he ate from it, he would die. After this, he created woman. Thus, she was not present at the time of the prohibition, and it is evident that she knew about it because Adam informed her. For this reason, the serpent (Satan) addressed her first. Satan told her that she would not die (because she was an immortal soul?) but that they would be like God, knowing good and evil.

This document explores the meaning of circumcision of the flesh and the heart, from the creation of humanity to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 1: Genesis 3:21 – A Covering of Skin

In Genesis 3:21, it is written: "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."

The word "כָּתְנוֹת" (katnot) is translated as garments or coverings, and "עוֹר" (or) is "skin" (singular). Significantly, the text does not say "skins" (plural) or "leather," but simply "or," which can be understood as a covering of skin.

From this perspective, we understand that:

· The man and woman were naked and realized this after eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

·God made a covering of skin for both of them.

This "skin" can be understood not only as an external garment, but as a biological covering. The male glans is covered by the foreskin, and the vaginal entrance by the hymen. Both structures can be seen as natural coverings of skin over the sexual organs. This reinforces the notion that nakedness was not only physical, but also symbolic, revealing an awareness of sin and separation from God. Before sin, Adam and Eve were "naked and did not feel ashamed" (Genesis 2:25). After eating the forbidden fruit, they realized their nakedness. This indicates that the total exposure of their sexuality was not a cause for shame until they lost their spiritual innocence. The covering of skin that God provided them can be seen as a visible sign of their new fleshly condition after disobeying and eating the forbidden fruit.

An important observation is found in Genesis 3:11, when God asks, "Who told you that you were naked?" That is, who taught you that nakedness should be viewed with shame? Shame arises not from nakedness itself, but from the change in perspective after sin. Man fell under the influence of the serpent (Satan) and began to listen and believe him. Possibly, seeing that he did not die immediately after eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he felt deceived and opened his understanding to a distorted perception of reality. This new awareness brought shame, fear, and separation from God.

These were added after sin, as symbolic barriers—temporary coverings that also conceal the organs associated with reproduction and intimacy.

These coverings serve as spiritual metaphors. The foreskin represents the carnal barrier of the heart that must be removed to approach God in sincerity. The hymen, similarly, represents purity and the act of unveiling at the proper time—within the covenant of marriage.

Chapter 2: Physical and spiritual circumcision

Circumcision: the covenant to return to the original state

When God made the covenant with Abraham He established circumcision (Genesis 17), It required the removal of that covering (the foreskin) as a sign of a return to the state of original innocence prior to disobedience.

Deuteronomy 10:16 – "Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stiff-necked."

Ezekiel 44:9 – "Thus says the Lord GOD: No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter my sanctuary..."

The foreskin is also a symbol of the obstacle that hinders sensitivity and openness of the heart. That is why we speak of circumcising the heart: removing that layer that numbs, hardens, and prevents us from loving and obeying God.

Jeremiah 4:4 – "Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, and remove the foreskins of your hearts..."

Ezekiel 36:26 – "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take away the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."

Throughout Scripture, we see that God ultimately desires a circumcision not of the body only, but of the heart.

Romans 2:28-29: "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly... But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit..."

These verses reveal that spiritual transformation is what God truly seeks. The foreskin of the heart symbolizes the emotional and spiritual hardness that prevents love and obedience to God.

Chapter 3: Genesis 2:17 – What does “dying you shall die” (מות תמות) mean?

The double death: “dying you shall die”

Genesis 2:17 says: "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

Hebrew: "כִּי בְּיוֹם אֲכָלְךָ מִמֶּנּוּ מוֹת תָּמוּת"

Literal translation: "for in the day of your eating from it, dying you shall die."

Many consider this an intensive Hebrew form (you will certainly die). But a deeper interpretation is that there are two deaths in Scripture:

1. Physical death that all humans experience (because we are mortal). Hebrews 9:27 says: "It is appointed for men to die once, and after this comes judgment."

2. The second death (the final one, after the final judgment),  the eternal death or destruction mentioned in Revelation 20:14—"This is the second death."

Therefore, "you will die when you die" can be understood as a warning about both deaths. Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden to prevent them from eating from the tree of life and living forever in sin. Access to the tree of life was restricted.

The tree of life in the Garden represented access to the Holy Spirit, the seed of eternal life. But man chose to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, believing the serpent's lies. Since then, humanity has been exposed to double death unless it returns to God and accesses eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Those who reject this grace ultimately suffer the second death, being destroyed forever, erased from existence.

Adam and Eve did not die physically on the same day they sinned, they lost access to the tree of life, and without redemption, we all would face the second death.

Chapter 4: Leviticus 20:9 and Exodus 21:17 – The Fifth Commandment and the True Curse. What's Honoring the Parents?

Leviticus 20:9: "For every one that curseth his father or [and, in the original Hebrew] his mother shall be surely put to death..."

Exodus 21:17: "And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death."

The term "curse" (קלל) means to treat lightly, to dishonor, or to fail to value [or undervalue]

The Hebrew expression used in both verses is again the translation of the doubling מות יומת (mot yumat), literally “dying he shall die,” which implies a future judgment rather than an immediate execution. That is, He is speaking of the two deaths: the physical death (as part of the human condition) and the final death, the second death after judgment, as expressed in Hebrews 9:27: “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this comes judgment.”

Jesus Christ explained it clearly when he confronted the Pharisees in Matthew 15:3-6:

Matthew 15:3–6: "[3] But he answered and said unto them [the scribes and Pharisees, which were the orthodox Jews of today], Why do ye also TRANSGRESS THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD by your tradition?

[4] For GOD COMMANDED, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or [“and”, in the Hebrew] mother, let him die the death. [JESUS put them together to teach a vital truth; and “… die the death” {or better yet, “dying he shall die”, which it’s the right translation}, is referring to physical death and the second and final death].

[5] But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, IT IS A GIFT [Offering to God], by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

[6] And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the COMMANDMENT OF GOD OF NONE EFFECT by your tradition."

Jesus Christ put together these passages on purpose. HE teaches that the fifth commandment, “Honor your father and your mother,” includes not only verbal or emotional respect, but also financial support, especially when parents are in need. He denounces the use of the tradition of the Korban (a declared offering to God) as an excuse for not helping parents. Thus, he makes it clear that the commandment to honor (and support) parents takes precedence over any religious offering. The scribes and pharisees avoided their responsibility by claiming their resources were dedicated to God (Korban)thus nullifying God’s command to honor father and mother.

JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, THE FORMER WORD OF THE ETERNAL AND LORD OF ISRAEL, SAID THE COMMANDMENT OF SUPPORTING (HONORING) THE PARENTS WAS FIRST THAN THE OFFERINGS!!! NO WONDER THE NATION IS UNDER A CURSE.

Chapter 5: The Restoration of Family – Malachi’s Prophecy

From colonial times until approximately 1940, young single people often lived with their parents, relatives, or, occasionally, with other families. However, now they are expected and often required to leave home and become independent.

The government is expected to care for the elderly, providing them with medical care and a livelihood.

Because we force our children to leave home at just 18 years old, they feel no obligation to support their parents in their old age. We are destroying affection with our cold and distant attitude.

The restoration of respect, love, and mutual support between parents and children is a central theme in the law, in the words of Jesus, and in the final prophecy. This attack on the family comes from the forces of evil on all fronts, for the devil hates the family, made in the image of the Godhead.

This revelation by Jesus Christ concerning the true meaning of the fifth commandment is related to the restoration of family ties in the end times by the modern Elijah as prophesied in Malachi 4:4-6:

"[4] Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel [The law that God commanded in Horeb were the 10 commandments written on the stone tablets by the Lord Himself with His finger], with the statutes and judgments”.

[5] Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

[6] And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children [first the fathers to the children, by really loving them and not forcing them to leave the house when they turn 18], and the heart of the children to their fathers [then the children will understand the fifth commandment and support their parents in their old age, knowing that it’s a commandment delivering health and prosperity “… that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee”], lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

It is important to reflect on how the modern custom of expelling children from the home prematurely breaks these bonds, creating resentment and eventually neglect toward aging parents.

The restoration of family relationships is part of God’s redemptive plan. God intends families to remain united in love and mutual responsibility.

Chapter 6: Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God

When Christ came, He fulfilled the requirements of the law and bore our sins, Christ, the Lamb of God, died in our place. Through His death and resurrection, those who repent, believe, and are baptized receive the Holy Spirit—the seed of eternal life. It is the beginning of the process that leads to being born into the Family of God.

As the second Adam, He obeyed where the first disobeyed. And in doing so, He opened the way for the Holy Spirit to come and dwell in us and beget us spiritually:

Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Acts 2:38: "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Baptism is the outward sign of that repentance and new birth. But if we do not receive that eternal life, if we reject that offer, we will suffer not only physical death, but the second death: the final destruction in the lake of fire.

Conclusion

True circumcision is of the heart. God desires a people who are pure, humble, and obedient—who love Him and love one another, beginning with honoring their parents. The message of circumcision goes far beyond the physical sign. It reveals the very purpose of God's work in us: to prepare us for eternal life in His family.

That is why it is essential to circumcise our hearts, to remove that layer that prevents us from loving and obeying God, and to allow Him to transform us from within through His Spirit.

Through the Spirit, we are begotten into the family of God. Without this Spirit, we face the second death—eternal destruction. Circumcision of the heart prepares us to receive God’s Spirit and walk in His ways.

May we remove the foreskin of the heart and walk in newness of life.

The first writing I did about the circumcision was on June 27, 2016 as a document of Microsoft Works Word Processor. It follows a copy:

FORESKIN IN FLESH AND HEART; CIRCUMCISION:  WHY?

Genesis 3:21 in Hebrew literally states, “and the LORD God made for the man and his wife  coverage of skin and wrapped them around (or dressed) [their genitals] with them.

This word is in the singular and is a coverage or skin cover (not leather or fur). The glans or male sexual organ is completely covered with the foreskin, which is literally a skin coverage and the vagina is covered with the hymen. That is, at first they did not have this cover or skin cover, were completely exposed or naked and that's why, when God made the covenant with Israel and their descendants told them they had to circumcise the foreskin, so they were again as Adam was at first before his desobedience. The foreskin also affects the sensitivity of the member, removes sensitivity. You can not feel normally.

Eze 44: 9 Thus saith the Lord God: No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of all the children of foreigners who are among the children of Israel.

Deu 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Deu 30: 6 And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, so that you may live.

Jer 4: 4 Circumcise yourselves to Jehovah, and take away the foreskins of your heart, men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn with none to quench it, because the evil of your doings.

Jer 9:26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon and Moab, and all that were cornered in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness; because all nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

Eze 36:26 And I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Thus, we can clearly see that the foreskin of the heart is a covering around the heart. He who has it can not feel normally to follow God's commandments or to love God and neighbors. It is necessary to circumcise (cut off, take away)that foreskin so the heart can feel. When we fear being hurt by someone we love and that is why we do not love anyone, we have that foreskin or cover that prevents us from feeling and we have hearts of stone, we are cold and skeptical. We have to circumcise the foreskin of our hearts, to believe and trust God, so that He may fill us with His Spirit and give us His love, and that love can flow to those around us.
